I wanted to try them out to see which one I like better. Thank you for your reply I have both Topaz and DxO on my computer right now, the trial versions of both. If you check out Adjust and find it inferior to Smart Lighting I'd like to hear about it. Perhaps Smart Lighting does something Adjust won't do, but my quick check of a DxO tutorial didn't show it to me. I can then save a photo from Adjust into Lightroom and as I sometimes do make some additional corrections in Lightroom. Also, Adjust has a number of other features which permit me to improve the photo, much as Lightroom does. If one of my photos is too dark I can lighten it with one of Topaz's presets in Adjust and then use DeNoise (which has been integrated into Adjust) in order to reduce the noise. I use Topaz Adjust quite a lot to do a similar thing. Just from the sound of it I suspected it relied heavily on presets.

But I did a quick check to see what DxO optics Smart Lighting was. I try not to read reviews of other software for fear it will make me unhappy with my setup - and I'm a long way from mastering either Lightroom or Topaz completely. Since I started with Lightroom I use it to invoke Topaz utilities rather than use them in the photoFXlab although I may have to resort to the latter if I ever get around to experimenting with layers.

At present I have Lightroom 5.3 and the entire Topaz system. I decided a long time ago to only get the software I absolutely needed, but as time went on I discovered more needs. I want to go with DxO but then I won't have the beautiful and convenient Styles of Topaz Restyle and since i don't have photoshop using the restyle alone would require me to purchase the restyle for $60 and the photoFXlab for $80 to host it, or photoshop for $70 to host the plugin. I don't think I could live without DxO ViewPoint and I don't want to buy both Topaz and DxO. Are there are Topaz versions of these? Not as far as I can see. I have been trying out Topaz for a couple of days now, I really like Topaz Denoise and Restyle, but DxO Optics has Smart Lighting and perspective correction both of which are really useful and necessary.
